Froya is a place well known as a habitat for traditionally high quality salmon and is the area where Norway's first salmon farms began due to its geographical advantages, as well as a perfect climate and water temperature. Salmar runs an integrated system for the quality management of Atlantic salmon farming, as well as its transportation and sales, and runs farms in the middle regions of Norway and Scotland. It supplies various types of farmed Atlantic salmon to countries around the world, including France, Germany, Russia, America and Asia. Salmar also produces goods based on strict and systematic hygiene safety systems such as the BRC, HACCP, Global GAP, IFS 2011, Kosher and Debio (Norwegian organic certification).
