In order to enlarge and improve its social contribution activities using the qualities of its corporate culture,
Shinsegae Food has formed a partnership with Seoul City, as well as local organizations and groups and affiliates
of Shinsegae and the E-Mart Group. The company has been actively taking part in various social contribution
programs, targeting vulnerable social groups and neglected neighbors such as elderly
persons with no one to rely on, underfed children, and disabled persons with no income.
Shinsegae Food has been actively engaging in volunteering its talents with the housewives of multicultural families, helping them to settle in Korea. Since 2012, when we signed an agreement with the Ewha Welfare Center, we have regularly hosted a cooking class for foreign housewives, allowing them to experience Korean food and culture. We have been providing support to them, so that they can settle into their new country with more ease. The number of applicants has been on the rise, and the program has been well-received because it not only teaches the participants about Korean culture and food, but also provides a comfortable environment. We plan to increase the number of participants and to target other countries by gradually expanding the scale of our cooking classes for multicultural families, which are currently being run once every quarter.
